The Italian Congress GIT-SI was organized jointly by the Geosciences and Information Technology and the Hydrogeology sections of the Italian Geological Society. The Congress was held in Sarzana (Liguria, northern Italy) at the premises of the “Fortezza Firmafede”, between 11th and 13th June 2018.
The GIT-SI Congress aimed at allowing the communty of hydrogeologists to exchange ideas and knowledge on different aspects of geosciences, giving priority to proposals and ideas of young hydrogeologists.
The program of the GIT-SI Congress included keynote lectures and scientific sessions. Within this framework, some results of the FREEWAT project were presented under different aspects:
- Giovanna De Filippis (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna) focused on the participatory approach adopted at the FREEWAT case studies for promoting the use of ICT tools for water management scopes;
- Rudy Rossetto (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna) presented the FREEWAT platform as an example of innovative ICT tool aimed at water management and planning;
- Pio Positano (Regione Toscana) focused on the experience of the Italian case study of Follonica-Scarlino.
