From 20th - 23rd May 2015 the 6th Croatian water conference took place in Opatija in Croatia.
Principal traditional sponsor of this conference are Croatian Waters. Motto of this conference was Croatian waters on the investment wave. The Membership of the Republic of Croatia in the European Union brings a new challenges for water management. Existing and planned investments into water management are expected to be among key drivers of economic development in Croatia. All this was discussed at the conference based on four scientific and expert topics:
1. status of water and water related ecosystems, hydrological extremes and their consequences, trends – precipitation, inland surface waters, groundwater, transitional and coastal waters;
2. systems of water and land planning and use – status and development projects:
3. systems of public water supply, wastewater collection and treatment – status and development projects;
4. water policy, education, water management planning, international cooperation and public participation.
Within the last topic the project FREEWAT was presented by our colleague Irena Kopac (IEI) in the form of an article in the conference proceedings and a poster.
