This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 642224
The annual Waterwise conference held in London on 8 March 2017 was an exceptionally stimulating event with 19 ICT4Water cluster projects funded by EU that shared experiences and presented results on ICT applied to water to enhance networking, communication, dissemination, policy, research and market opportunities returns.
A big thanks to ICT4Water cluster Projects:
AQUANES – CYTO-WATER – DAIAD – EFFINET – INTCATCH – IWIDGET – KINDRA – MOSES – POWER – PROTEUS – SIM4NEXUS – SMARTH2O – SMART-MET – SMART-PLANT – WATERINNEU – WATERP – WIDEST – WISDOM – ISS-EWATUS
Fruitful discussions from 3 panels: research and Innovation, engagement and implementation:
- Advantages of water efficiency, smart water metering and monitoring in every water use and reuse (urban, agriculture, ground water,…).
- Water as key building block in smart cities to be reinforced;
- Data protection, privacy, network access, confidentiality and integrity of water related information;
- Relevance of data sharing across services, fostering the harmonization of water ICT systems and platform, to enable data-as-a-service models;
- IoT and smart meters will make available a huge amount of data, Smart Data Management is necessary;
- To enhance emerging water issues (current and future trends) in terms of data management, interoperability and standardization;
- Procurement schemas are considered as a good option to provide solutions that are closer to the needs of the water utilities;
- User engagement strategy should be tackled by all available channels, approaches on social networks should be exploited too;
- Stakeholders raise the need for results and outcomes that reach the market.
